What is it story?

Karthik (Naga Chaitanya) who wants to enjoy freedom for a year plans to write a book about his journey. Instead he writes a romantic novel named Oka Laila Kosam which is about the girl he is madly in love with. That girl called Nandu (Pooja Hegde) hates Karthik as he flirts with girls. However Nandu's marriage gets fixed with Karthik as her father is very impressed with him and his family.

Naga Chaitanya: Naga Chaitanya is just Okay in the lead role. He is still struggling to get right expressions in emotional scenes. He is alright in the teasing scenes though.

Pooja Hegde: Pooja Hegde is good in few frames and average in few angles. Her performance is fine for a debutante.

Others: Suman as strict father is good and it is refreshing to see Sayaji Shinde as the doting father of heroine. Ali's comedy worked in parts. There isn't much to write about other supporting cast.

Technical Aspects:

Direction: Vijay Kumar Konda's direction is good in few scenes. He didn't handle the emotional scenes in the second half properly. That part is the heart and soul of this film and could have taken it to another level if taken care. It is a fairly average product from the director who showed lot of promise in his debut film.

Others: Music by Anup is passable. Oka Laila Kosam remix is good. Background score is fine. Cinematography is cool. Editing could have been better especially in the second hour. Dialogues written by the director himself are just okay. Art department did a good job. This is a quality product from Annapurna Studios.

Minus points

Second Half

Oka Laila Kosam is a standard romantic comedy which has an entertaining first half. Second half of the movie only runs on the emotional conflict between the lead pair. Director tried to work on the feel good factor rather focusing on the entertainment. So the screenplay drags in the second hour.

Oka Laila Kosam is nowhere near to thoroughly entertaining Gunde Jaari Gallantayyinde, but director showed some sparks of brilliance at times. Interval scene turns out to be the major highlights of the film. There are some good scenes such as comparing hero's love to that of a father's love to a just born baby, hero's special gift to the heroine etc.

If you can excuse the snail paced screenplay OLK is a onetime watch for those who love love stories. This is definitely not up to the standards of Chaitanya's previous romantic hits Ye Maya Chesave and 100% Love, but is not a bad one either. Little bit of entertainment in the second half might have helped the film to move above the average mark. Commercial outcome of the movie will depend upon how the young audience receives it
