ANIL KUMAR SINHA IS APPOINTED AS NEW CHIEF FOR CBI

Senior IPS Officer Anil Kumar Sinha has been appointed as the new Director of the country’s premier investigating agency, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He will take over from Mr Ranjit Sinha who retired on Tuesday. The term of Anil Kumar Sinha will be for two years from the date he takes charge.
Anil Kumar Sinha, who is an IPS officer of 1979 batch of Bihar Cadre, was the Special Director, the second in command at the agency till now.
His name was among the short-listed candidates chosen after a meeting at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, Modi held discussions with the Chief Justice of India, H.L. Dattu and leader of the main Opposition in Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge.on selecting a new CBI head.
Ranjit Sinha retired on Tuesday after a tumultuous tenure of two years in a glare of controversy with the Supreme Court directing him to recluse from 2G spectrum scam case probe.
